Educational Therapy
Supporting Learning, Executive Functioning, and Emotional Growth
Educational Therapy is a specialized, individualized intervention that addresses the intersection of learning, behavior, and emotional functioning. It is designed for students who struggle with learning differences, attention challenges, executive functioning difficulties, or school-related trauma/anxiety. Educational therapy goes beyond tutoring by focusing not just on academic content, but on the underlying processes that support learning.
How is Educational Therapy Different from Tutoring?
Tutoring focuses the benefit on specific, short term goals such as:
Focuses on specific academic subjects or homework help, aims to improve performance in a specific class or test, assumes basic learning systems are intact, and may not consider emotional or behavioral factors.
Educational Therapy focuses the benefit on overall, long term goals such as:
Focuses on how a student learns and strengthens foundational learning processes (critical thinking, EF, problem solving), aims to develop lifelong skills like organization, time management, and self advocacy, addresses learning disabilities, ADHD, anxiety, and other barriers to learning, integrates social and emotional support and builds confidence and resilience, and can be ongoing, especially for students with complex needs.
Educational therapy helps students not just survive school/work—but thrive. It supports the whole person, empowering learners to develop the tools, strategies, and confidence they need to reach their potential.
Educational therapy supports children, teens, and adults by addressing learning differences, boosting confidence, and equipping them with tools to succeed in school and life.
